Weather around Las Vegas
Height is the escape from Las Vegas. Cedar City, at almost 6,000 feet, is often 15 degrees cooler in summer. Saint George is barely higher than the city and nearly as hot, and along the Colorado River, Laughlin and Lake Havasu City are often hotter.
From May to September the desert is very hot, and we mark any day above 88F, which covers most summer days here. In winter the desert towns are at their best, while the high country can be cold or snowy.
How we pick
"Good" means a high from 55F to 88F, a forecast of sun or clouds, and at most a 30% chance of rain or snow, with no thunderstorm, dangerous heat or cold, strong gusts or smoke.
