WeatherRoam Support
WeatherRoam is a free road-trip weather app for iPhone and Android. Add places on a map to compare their forecasts and driving times, plan a trip day by day, or let Weekend Pick suggest where the weather looks best this weekend. Here's everything you need to get started.
How to Use WeatherRoam
Add Places to the Map
Tap anywhere on the map to place a pin. A weather card will appear showing the forecast for that location. You can place up to 20 pins at once to compare destinations.
4-Day Forecast
Each weather card displays today's weather plus a 3-day forecast with daily high and low temperatures and weather condition icons.
Travel Time
Each card also shows the driving time and distance from your current location, and in a trip plan, the drive from the stop before. Travel times are available for any road-accessible destination. Locations separated by ocean or without road access will show the forecast without a travel time.
Temperature Units
Use the °F / °C toggle in the top-right control panel to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. The app defaults to the standard unit for your region.
Weekend Pick
Choose how far you will drive, from one to six hours. Weekend Pick ranks the towns within reach by their weekend forecast, each with a drive time, and can show the best ones on the map to compare. It works worldwide: drive times are measured on real roads in the US and Canada and estimated elsewhere.
Plan a Trip by Day
Set a start date and the day you will be at each stop, and each card shows the forecast for that day instead of today.
Weather Alerts
Severe-weather alerts appear on the cards they affect: from the National Weather Service in the US, and from the local issuing service elsewhere.
Share a Trip or a Pick
Share your pins, or a Weekend Pick answer, as one link. A friend with the app sees the same places on their map; a friend without it is offered the app first.
Removing Pins
Tap any weather card to remove that pin from the map. To remove all pins at once, tap the "Clear All" button in the top-right control panel.
Location Access
WeatherRoam uses your location to center the map and calculate driving times. It is used in real time to answer the request you made, is sent to our forecast and mapping providers only for that purpose, and is never linked to your identity. Your precise location is never stored. If you denied location access, you can enable it in your device's Settings under WeatherRoam. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn't travel time showing for some locations?
Travel times require a drivable route between your location and the pin. Destinations across oceans or in areas without road access won't display a travel time.
Why does the weather card show a loading spinner?
Weather data is fetched in real-time when you place a pin. A brief loading spinner is normal, especially on slower connections.
Is WeatherRoam free?
Yes. WeatherRoam is completely free with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no account required.
Who makes WeatherRoam
WeatherRoam, including the app, weatherroam.com and the ChatGPT plugin, is made and published by Peter Novotny, an independent developer in Minnesota.
