Weekend Pick in 30 seconds
Choose how far you will drive, from one to six hours. Weekend Pick ranks the towns within reach by their weekend forecast, each with a drive time, and puts the best ones on the map to compare. Here, from San Francisco on a Monday: Half Moon Bay, Stinson Beach and Santa Cruz.
New in October: pick a day, see the wind
Weekend Pick can now rank Saturday or Sunday alone. Each pick also shows strong wind and a notable chance of rain, so a sunny day that is rated "Fair" comes with its reason. Here, from Minneapolis at three hours: the app calls Sunday the better day and flags Saturday's gusts.

Descriptions
One sentence
WeatherRoam is a free road-trip weather app that shows where the weekend weather looks best within your drive, and compares the forecast, drive time and weather alerts for every stop on a trip.
About 150 words
Most weather apps show one city for today. WeatherRoam shows the places you might go. Drop pins on up to 20 destinations and compare their four-day forecasts, drive times and severe-weather alerts side by side on one map. Plan a multi-day trip and see the forecast for the day you will actually be at each stop.
Weekend Pick, added in September 2026, answers the question that comes before the trip: where will the weather cooperate this weekend? Choose how far you will drive, from one to six hours, and it ranks the towns within reach by their weekend forecast, with a drive time for each. An optional Thursday heads-up says when a place you checked looks good for the weekend.
WeatherRoam is free, with no ads and no account. It is made by one independent developer, Peter Novotny, in Minnesota.
How "Looks good" is decided
Each forecast day first goes through fixed safety checks for thunderstorms, dangerous heat or cold, high wind, smoke and missing data. A day that fails is never called good. For the days that pass, an AI model judges whether the day looks good from that day's forecast numbers and the place name.
That verdict is the only part that is AI. The forecasts, drive times and alerts are not. The AI never receives a user's location or anything about the user, and if it is unavailable, fixed rules decide instead.
